How your inner garden grows

April 08, 20262 min read

Your mind is a garden, your thoughts are the seeds.

You can grow flowers or you can grow weeds

The Seeds were Planted Long Ago

We don't get to choose what is first planted, as children we are like open soil.

Everything we see, feel and experience becomes a seed - words spoken to us, experiences we live through, the love we were shown or not shown.

Some seeds grow into flowers feeling safe, loved & seen.

Others grow into weeds - fear, self-doubt, guilt or the need to be something we're not.

We didn't choose them, they were planted through life... through family... through school & society, moments we didn't understand.

What Gets Watered, Grows

As we move through life, those seeds begin to grow.

Every experience becomes the water,

Every thought reinforces what's already there.

Without realizing it we keep watering the same patterns...

The same beliefs...with the same reactions...to the same fears.

And over time, the weeds can begin to take over.

Not because there's anything wrong with us - but because we were never shown how to care for our inner garden.

When Something Doesn't Feel Right

Too often we push on instead of pausing to think,

Why do I feel like this?

Why do I keep reacting this way?

Why does this feel so familiar?

Because this is the beginning....

Not for fixing but for noticing.

As when we look closely, we start to see.

It's not that there are no flowers.... we just can't see them through the weeds.

The First Step Is Awareness

This is where your journey begins.

Gently becoming aware of what's there.

Not judging it.

Not rushing it.

Just noticing.

What have I been watering?

What keeps showing up?

Where might this have come from?

Once we begin to understand what's growing in our inner garden...

the next step is learning how to gently care for it.

I'll share more about that in my next post...
