The Feather, the Brick & the Truck
“Life has a funny way of getting our attention”
You may have heard the story about the feather, the brick & the truck...
The idea is simple.
First life whispers a message with a feather.
If we don't notice...It taps us with a brick.
If we still don't stop... eventually it feels like we have been hit by a truck.
For a long time, I thought this story was about testing us...
Now I see it differently.
The Feather
Sometimes the feather is impossible to notice...

It's a feeling that something isn't quite right...
A quiet thought that keeps returning...
Feeling tired more than usual...
A relationship that feels a little disconnected.
A dream that keeps appearing but is easy to ignore.
They're small moments that are easy to brush aside because life is busy & we tell ourselves we will deal with it later.
The Brick
When we don't listen to the feather, life becomes a little louder.
Perhaps we become overwhelmed or maybe lose our patience more easily.
Our body begins asking us to slow down...
Relationships become strained & the same problems seem to appear over & over again.
Not because life is against us BUT because something within us is asking to be acknowledged.
The Truck
Sometimes life eventually brings something that completely stops us in our tracks.
A loss, a major life change, burnout, illness or a relationship ending...
A moment that changes everything.
These moments can feel incredibly painful but as difficult as they are, they often become the turning points we remember most.
Looking Back
I've noticed something interesting through reflection...
When we are living through the messages of the feather, the brick or the truck.
We rarely see the full picture because we're simply trying to get through the day, it's only later when we slow down and look back that we notice the things we couldn't see at the time.
The feelings, the conversations, the little nudges.
The moments that where quietly guiding us towards a different path.
Reflection changes our perception.
Life wasn't working against me
Looking back on my own journey, there where so many moments I questioned.
Moments I wished had never happened.
Yet today I can see that many of them gently redirected me towards the life I'm now living.
The feather, the brick & even what once felt like the truck...
Each one led me to eventually pause, reflect & reconnect with myself.
Perhaps the greatest lesson
Maybe life isn't trying to make things harder, maybe it's trying to help us notice.
To notice how we're feeling,
To notice what we're carrying,
To notice the dreams we have forgotten,
To notice the part of ourselves quietly waiting to be heard,
Because awareness creates choice and choice creates change.
This is the Journey
Sometimes life whispers, sometimes it calls a little louder.
Either way...
It is always inviting us home to ourselves and perhaps with reflection, we realise it was never the feather, the brick or the truck that changes us.
It was the awareness they awakened within us.
This is what The Journey Back to You , is all about because it's not until you find peace within yourself that you can truly live in peace with others.
